- If you're a book lover, Pittsburgh is an AMAZING city to live in - or to visit! In my latest #booktube video (linked in bio), I talk about what makes the 'Burgh a book lover's dream city and my own personal experience living here for almost the past decade. There's also some footage inside three great Pittsburgh bookstores - a big thanks to @amazingbooksandrecords, @riverstonebookstore, and @citybookspgh for letting me film inside your stores! Also, check out my companion piece on literary Pittsburgh that I wrote for the book newsletter @bookpostusa - you can also find that link in my bio!Ten years ago today, my favorite book of all time - Rules of Civility by Amor Towles - was released. I've read it a total of seven times now, and I can't even begin to express how much this book means to me. Every year I get something new from it. I was elated to be able to team up with @northavecandles to create a candle - a sultry mix of cedar, ginger, juniper, and champagne - inspired by an early scene in the book in which the three main characters meet at a jazz club on New Year's Eve.A few weeks ago, I asked for your opinions on which books I should get rid of from my second shelf of unread fiction and now, the results are in! After consulting your comments and doing a try a chapter tag (that video just went live on my #booktube channel - link in bio), these are sadly the ones I'm saying farewell to. They'll be sold to my local used bookstore for credit and hopefully will find loving homes shortly thereafter. I'll be introducing you to shelf number 3's books in the near future, so stay tuned!Storms are rolling through Pittsburgh today, so I'll be spending the first day of the weekend catching up on chores, writing, and continuing to read this ARC of Below the Edge of Darkness, a memoir of a marine biologist who, at one point in her early life, was temporarily blinded after a surgery that went very wrong.
